The Akron Chapter of the American Advertising Federation has announced several changes in leadership.

Melissa Olson New President of AAF Akron

As announced on AAF Akron’s Twitter and Instagram accounts, Melissa Olson is the new president of AAF Akron.

Melissa is Manager of Student Affairs at the University of Akron where she recruits and promotes student success at The Mary Schiller Myers School of Art.

Melissa earned her BFA in Graphic Design and Photography from the University of Akron. Previously she has worked as a graphic designer for WhiteSpace Creative and Kent State University.

Melissa will serve a 2-year term as president of AAF Akron.

Former President Steve Govern New Chairman of the Board of AAF Akron

As announced on AAF Akron’s Twitter and Instagram accounts, Steve Govern is the new chairman of the board of AAF Akron.

Steve is Senior Art Director at Kleidon. He earned his BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Akron.

Steve has served in various roles with AAF Akron, most recently as its president.

Former Chairman of the Board Scott Kessler Retires from AAF Akron Leadership

As noted in the July 3, 2018 edition of TKM’s design and marketing newsletter, Scott Kessler retired as chairman of the board of AAF Akron after serving in various roles for nine years.

Scott is Creative Director at Zeto Creative. He also serves as Adjunct Instructor at the University of Akron where he provides instruction “in various graphic design classes ranging from creative thinking through basic design principles to advanced typography and layout.”

Scott earned his BFA in graphic design from the University of Akron.
